There was a seagull on the beach last week, squawking over a long, white carcass. I first noticed it from my porch. The wind off the whitecaps sprayed the salty, heady scent of freshly churned seawater up in a fine mist. On a whim, I packed my smokes into my pocket and made my way down the path to the beach. I crossed the small stream that cuts its way twice daily into the sand down to the water’s edge. The seagull bounced off as I approached. I crab-walked and squinted. What had died? But the wind was full of sea, and empty of death. I stepped closer. It was a Styrofoam block.
As writers in lockdown, all that we can do is write. We hope that these short and silly stories take you away for a moment. Read other blog stories by the writers at Give Me Articles. They’re not all about the seagull. We’re an article writing company, maybe we could write blogs for you too.
